Why is it so on trend to wear t-shirts emblazoned with US cities right now?

In a city store (UK) they have gone crazy on American football shirts.

I know the Super Bowl took place a little while ago, but suddenly, everywhere I look, people are wearing shirts with US-inspired designs on them.

It is a rare sight to see anyone with a British city mentioned on their shirt, or even European. In fact, I couldn’t tell you the last time I saw one.

We have long been obsessed with America, so I understand the fascination, to a degree.

It seems a shame to me that although I live in a fine city with two cathedrals, a castle, and a great university, I never see anyone wearing its name on their shirt. Other than at the football club, where is the local pride?

Maybe celebrating where you live is not considered cool in this country, but from what I see, Americans are always proud to salute their home.

I sell Norfolk designs via my print-on-demand stores, and occasionally they are bought locally, but often they go to the US or Australia. So, I guess the homesick ex-pats are happy to celebrate the city from whence they came.

Can I buck the trend? I doubt it, but I will persist in trying. This summer, I will make…
