Who Knew Ghosts Could be so Controversial!
Be careful if you plan to mention ghosts on social media. I got some interesting responses.
Ghosts, whether you believe in them or not, are always fascinating. But recently, when I posted a photo of a medieval street and asked if anyone had seen a ghost there, I got some interesting and mixed replies.
One person suggested that if I believed in ghosts, I should visit a cemetery or old hospital, and went on about poor, lost, tormented souls.
I do believe in ghosts (as I pointed out); I have experienced a few in my time, but I am no ghost hunter. The comment on my photo was a bit of a throwaway comment.
It is true; I have never seen a ghost on this street I regularly photograph at night, lined with Tudor buildings oozing with history. It is true that many events have occurred in this area that could well leave spirits in torment.
Another responded that if I wanted to talk to ghosts, I could go visit their late nan at a local cemetery. I never said I wanted to talk to ghosts; I’d only remarked that I’d never seen one in this particular area and wanted to know if anyone had.
Suddenly, I had turned from photographer to ghost hunter!
When I go for my nightly walks, I don’t have ghosts on my mind, only possible photographic…
