What has happened recently is not representative of the whole of Britain. I grew up in a multi-cultural city and then I moved to a predominantly white City which over the years has gradually become more multi cultural and it works well. We did not have riots here and we celebrate the fact we have a long history of welcoming refugees and immigrants.

However, I think there is a lot of ignorance surrounding the whole subject of immigration. The rioters simply followed what certain people said with their inflammatory comments and the media fuelled it too.


People need education and better integration processes. Of course cultures are going to clash and everyone needs education on exactly why people arrive here, just as you have detailed in your article.
