We All Battle to Survive — But Should We Be Having a Wild Time Instead?
Life can be too serious. Is it time to lighten up?
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “Wow! What a ride!”
Hunter S. Thompson
“You worry too much.”
This is what my mother frequently said to me.
She wasn’t wrong. I have always worried too much. However, there have been times when my concern was insufficient, leading me to lose focus. This hasn’t always turned out well.
I didn’t worry too much about studying, so my grades weren’t great.
I didn’t worry too much about a career, so I drifted around quite a bit.
I didn’t worry about when I would fulfil my travelling ambitions, and time is beginning to wear out.
A long time ago, I created my own quote out of an existing proverb, which goes: Man plans, and God laughs.
I renamed this to “God laughs at people who make plans.”
For me, I have always felt this to be true.
