Photography Tips: These are my go-to sites for selling online.
If you feel your photographs are good enough to make some extra cash, check out these three websites.
Starting with the hard facts.
First off, don’t expect big bucks.
Even if you have a faithful following of customers in the real world or via social media, don’t expect to earn much from your photography online.
It doesn’t matter if people are always saying how amazing your pictures are and how talented you are; translating that into sales is a whole different ball game.
If I could have £1 for every compliment I get on social media, I would be earning a tidy sum by now. The truth is, people love to look at photography, but it is a super competitive market, and getting them to part with the cash takes a lot of persistence and soft selling. Even then, many don’t buy.
Quite often, the sales go to complete strangers rather than friends and fan-type followers. It is strange, but true.
There are many sites online to sell through, and over the years, I have tried and tested quite a few.
You can license your pictures via stock sites or sell them via print-on-demand.
