Photography: Sell Less Make More?

Gurus often encourage people to take risks and venture beyond their comfort zone.

I am all for change, but how often do I change what I do in photography?

When it comes to my photographic creativity and the way I market my images, I rarely stray from the well-trodden path.

My tried and tested routes include Redbubble, Zazzle, Shutterstock, and Photo4Me.

Depending on the site and the frequency of my uploads, all these selling routes generate either a consistent or fluctuating income.

These sites are effective, but I won’t become wealthy anytime soon.

A new year always has me thinking about how to improve my photographic sales, and I am currently exploring the world of NFT marketplaces.

Rather than uploading thousands of images, perhaps I should scale back and aim to create less but charge more.

Digital art platforms could be a useful way to experiment.

Every now and then, I receive dodgy direct messages or comments on X, indicating that someone is interested in purchasing one of my images as a non-fungible token.

Ever suspicious and ignorant of this new world, I choose to ignore them.

Having investigated these offers, I can confirm that my suspicions so far, are correct. They are nothing but scammers.

That said, NFT marketplaces have piqued my curiosity, and they could be a new target for 2025.

An article in Digital Camera World has given me the confidence to pursue this new angle on selling my images.
