Oscar Wilde said (this is via Stephen Fry), if you know what you want to be, you will inevitably become it - that is your punishment, but if you never know, then you can be anything. There is a truth to that.
I too was the odd one out at school. All of my friends knew what they wanted. I am still the odd one out and described as 'eccentric' and 'different'. Would I change that for one second for security and predictability. Nah.
I actually felt relief when one of my nephews told me he didn't know what he wants to be. Suddenly the world opens up to all kinds of dreams and possibilities.
