My YouTube Channel is 5 weeks old — here are the benefits it is bringing.

I am nearly 5 weeks in, and I am enjoying promoting my book character on YouTube. While I have dabbled with YouTube in the deep and distant past, this is the first time I’ve really persisted with it, and it is paying off (so far, in the way I want it to).
The Positives
- It is drawing attention to my book by using the main fictional character from it in the videos.
- Local people are engaging with the videos and then telling me what they enjoy when we meet up and what they’d like to see (some of which goes beyond my capabilities; at the moment, getting my character to skydive off the Burj Khalifa in Dubai didn’t go down too well with him).
- The analytics are all providing the little green arrows I love — the ones that point up.
- I am constantly learning and adapting to what I learn from each video.
- It’s too early to be confident that my YouTube channel will increase sales of my book, but one thing is for sure: if I didn’t work on my channel, they wouldn’t increase anyway.
Challenges
- It is time-consuming to work on shooting new videos, but at the moment, I stick to shorts. These can eventually be monetized, but to do this, I need a whole lot more…
