Old building along the River Wensum in Norwich — photo by the author @MyriadPhoto

Living in a medieval city, it isn’t hard to find old buildings to photograph.

If you already follow me, it is likely that you have seen my photographs of Norwich Cathedral, Elm Hill, and Norwich Castle. These are just a few of the golden oldies, but there are many, many more.

These are the scenic spots, often photographed by tourists and locals alike.

The photographs you see at the top and below are of buildings I pass every day when I leave my apartment to walk or cycle along the River Wensum into the city, and they are right up there among my favourites.

These buildings draw mixed reactions. Some argue that they are visually repugnant and warrant demolition. But there are also those who love them. I often observe individuals standing and gazing at them with affection. I belong to the latter category.
