If you have ever written a book, you may recognise some of these reactions, if not all of them.

If you are writing a book for the first time (or any time), get ready for these questions.

  1. Congratulations! That’s great news. Where can I buy it?
  2. As soon as I have read it, I will leave you a review.
  3. Are you going to write another book?
  4. That’s amazing; it takes so much work to write a book!
  5. Oh yes, I’ve always wanted to write a book. Any tips?
  6. How long did it take you to write?
  7. Oh yes, I thought I saw something about that on social media. (Says nothing more.)
  8. So you self-published it? (Looks disappointed). (Looks intrigued).
  9. What is the publishing process?
  10. How easy is it to publish?
  11. How did you find a publisher?
  12. Have you sold many books? just days after it was published.
  13. Can you make a living writing books?
  14. I know someone who writes; they are very successful at it.
  15. What inspired you to write your book?
  16. Does it cost much to self-publish?
